Why do Buddhist monks visit prisoners when their message to them is hopeless?

I really do not want to offend anyone. I genuinely am just curious. I simply want to ask questions regarding questions I cannot get my head around.

So Buddhist monks show compassion to and visit prisoners.

Let us assume that Buddhism is true and that a certain amount of prisoners have committed bad crimes.

If that is true then Buddhism says that these prisoners will spend what is almost an eternity as a snake or a bee right? And as soon as they die right?

So Buddhism must make them lose all peace of mind and become desperate over the issue of dying , true? Because what waits for them is aeons of hellish experience doesn’t it ?

So why do you visit these prisoners ? IF that is your belief ? Wouldn’t it be better not to let them know ?

I am just hopeful you have a good answer to this. And you may well have one.

Thank you.
